About Us

The astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once quipped, “the good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it”. In an increasingly polarised, post-truth world, the objectivity and rigour of the scientific method provide us with our best opportunity at finding common ground. Shared goals we can hopefully agree on and work towards.

Although scientifically curious from an early age, our scientific journeys began in earnest when we received scholarships to read the Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge. We loved our experience from the start, and despite electing not to pursue careers in the field, we have never stopped imagining the road not taken.

Our experience at Trinity is living proof of the transformative powers of philanthropy. As overseas students, we were supported by generous scholarships and bursaries, allowing us access to an education that would otherwise have been all but unattainable. It was truly life-changing, in the best possible way.

The Krishnan-Ang Foundation seeks to marry our interest in science and philanthropy. We have dedicated ourselves to the pursuit of excellence in the field of scientific discovery, if not as direct practitioners, then as supporters of exceptional talent. We believe that it is only by casting the widest net that we can identify the brightest minds, and it is only through long-term funding that these minds can be unencumbered to conduct transformative research.

Over the last 15 years we have supported PhD and post-doctoral research students at Cambridge University, a research laboratory and translational work at the Francis Crick Institute in London and have recently started to support two new laboratories at the Cancer Research Centre in Cambridge. We are also currently exploring support in other areas of interest, including marine conservation and research in the physical sciences.

We have served on the Cambridge Campaign Board and have been delighted to work with the other board members and the University on their successful “Dear World, Yours Cambridge” campaign which raised over GBP2bn.

We are honoured to be members of the Guild of Benefactors in Cambridge, the Great Court Circle at Trinity College and are Fellow Commoners of Trinity College.

We engage with our students and researchers regularly and hope to support them holistically through their scientific journeys.
